Summer plans began to burden me. What should I do? Work? Go camping? Volunteer? Go on a short-term mission trip? The options were constantly swirling, hovering, weighting. I came to the conclusion that not working was not an option. But I felt strongly toward the idea of going on a mission.
After our Missions class at Ecola, my passion for the lost and my interest in missions was sparked. I talked with my parents about it and they suggested a visit to the Stocks in Kaiserslautern, Germany. (I think Germany seemed a bit more comfortable to my parents than the ideas of India or the "stans.") I also expressed my interest in missions to my Youth Pastor, Duncan and his wife, Suzanne. Much to my surprise, they also suggested the Stocks' ministry as an option.
For a couple weeks I pushed the overwhelming ideas out of my mind, trying to not over-think it. But the thoughts continued. Is this really what He wants me to be doing? How will it work out with finding a job this summer? I soon got word from Suzi that the Stocks were interested in having her contribute her organizational skills at the hospitality house they oversee. It would be an amazing experience for me to be involved with this ministry and to have some hands-on experience in missions.
Suzi and I tossed ideas around, and found tickets in June for well over $900... But my spring break is coming up soon (February 27th-March 15th) and we checked prices. We were excited to find tickets for less than $600! This has all come up so soon, but seems to all be lining up greatly. I think that this quick pace is God's way of getting me to respond to His leads without over-analyzing it. This week I rushed to the Post Office to turn in passport paperwork and we are now applying for a short-term mission grant from NKBC's Mission Council. This is a fairly affordable trip, but there is still great need. Your support of this trip would be greatly appreciated - financial support and prayer would be such an encouragement.
